ThreeBond 5200 series silicones for construction

ThreeBond 5200 Series is a range of one-component construction sealants designed for long-lasting sealing and bonding in building, civil engineering and industrial . Combining RTV silicone and modified silicone technologies, these moisture-curing sealants provide durable, flexible joints with excellent resistance to weathering, temperature variations and outdoor exposure.

Suitable for sealing concrete joints, expansion joints, windows, doors, façades and water-related structures, the 5200 Series offers reliable adhesion to a wide variety of construction materials. Selected grades are also paintable, making them ideal for projects where both performance and aesthetics are required. Whether used for new construction, renovation or industrial maintenance, the ThreeBond 5200 Series delivers durable sealing solutions for demanding environments.

Each product in the series is a single-component caulking agent that cures easily by simply being squeezed from the container, forming a rubber-like elastic body after curing. This elasticity ensures long-lasting performance, even in dynamic environments where flexibility is required. The series offers various grades to suit specific material requirements, including silicone-based and modified silicone-based options, providing enhanced compatibility and performance depending on the application.

F.A.Q

01.What is a construction silicone sealant?

A construction silicone sealant is an elastic sealing material used to create durable, weatherproof joints between building materials such as concrete, glass, metal and masonry. It accommodates structural movement while protecting against water and air infiltration.

02. What is the difference between RTV silicone and modified silicone sealants?

RTV silicone sealants typically offer excellent resistance to UV exposure, weathering and high temperatures, making them ideal for demanding outdoor applications.

Modified silicone sealants combine flexibility with strong adhesion and, in many cases, can be painted after curing, making them particularly suitable for architectural finishing and construction projects.

03. Are all products in the ThreeBond 5200 Series paintable?

No. Selected modified silicone grades, such as the 5222 Series, are paintable after curing, whereas conventional RTV silicone sealants generally are not. Product selection should be based on the final application and finishing requirements.

04. Can the ThreeBond 5200 Series be used outdoors?

Yes. The 5200 Series is designed for both interior and exterior applications and offers excellent resistance to weather, UV exposure and temperature fluctuations, ensuring long-term sealing performance.

05. Why is joint flexibility important in construction?

Buildings naturally expand and contract due to temperature changes, vibrations and structural movement. Flexible sealants absorb these movements while maintaining a watertight seal, helping prevent cracks, leaks and premature joint failure.

06. Can construction silicone sealants be used around water?

Yes. Several products in the ThreeBond 5200 Series are suitable for sealing applications involving water exposure, including swimming pools, water tanks, sinks and other wet environments.
